Shadeborn: A New Era of Costa Rican Death Metal

Founded in 2023, Shadeborn is a contemporary death metal powerhouse forged by the technical synergy of drummer Nash White and lead guitarist Bryan Cruz. Both veterans of the long-standing death metal outfit Catarsis Incarne (2005–2023), the duo launched Shadeborn as a vehicle for a darker, more intense, and distinctly modern evolution of the genre.

The band’s sonic identity is anchored by the intricate compositions of Bryan Cruz (also of Kweizar). Drawing from the crushing weight of deathcore and the atmospheric frost of black metal, Cruz’s ability to weave technical precision with immersive soundscapes defines the Shadeborn experience.

Expanding the vision in 2024, the lineup was bolstered by the addition of guitarist Warhammer, a versatile musician and producer with over 15 years of experience. A member of Magog and Belial Horde, and the creative architect behind the experimental project Aeonial Curse, Warhammer brings a sophisticated layer of technical expertise and innovative production style that perfectly complements the band’s aggressive foundation.

At the helm of the rhythm and core of production, Nash White brings over two decades of international experience to the project. Beyond Shadeborn, Nash is an elite session and touring drummer who has collaborated with acts such as Sigh of Emptiness, Belial Horde, and Chemicide; also has collaborated with Dutch composer Clemens Wijers and provided live support for Greece’s Rotting Christ during their 2022 Costa Rican show.

Shadeborn is currently in the studio finalizing their highly anticipated debut album. Their sound—a relentless blend of death and black metal influences infused with modern groove—is a testament to their collective technical mastery and raw, uncompromising intensity.
